10°Wedge

Warehouse Turned Tech Workplace

The client expressed a desire to house his blossoming new business within a unique, creative, unfinished warehouse. On a modest budget and a two month timeframe to design and build, UP created a thoughtful and flexible work environment. The "wedge" was used to define the think space and was rotated off grid to signify the importance of the space.

The "wedge" cut through the executive offices and faced the employee work zone to note the need for collaboration with all members of their team. To emphasize the drama of the piece it was detached from the surrounding steel structure and "floated" within the space.

The existing warehouse provided opportunities for found relics to be left exposed and framed by the new, clean, white sheetrock further exploring UP's interest in contextual contradiction.
