The Value & The Costs of
Concealed Window Shade Pockets
The Value
Concealed window shade pockets are integrated within the ceiling of a home to provide an out-of-sight view of the home’s shading system. These are intended to completely remove the shade fabric from view when the window coverings are opened.
Concealed window shades hide cables, cords, and other hardware involved with surface mounted materials. This conceals busy visuals while optimizing the aesthetic of a space.
These slick modern home details allow for unobstructed views. The removal of additional visual clutter has a striking effect of connecting the homeowner and their guests with the outdoors, especially in homes surrounded by nature. This feature is particularly sharp when paired with floor-to-ceiling windows and concealed door frames
The Costs
Concealed window shade pockets affect construction costs as there is additional ceiling prep that must be made for the space allocation for the ‘pocket’ to hide the actual shades. This detail, while beautiful, will require a skilled craftsman to execute properly and a thorough, detail-oriented design team to properly detail.
While costs will increase in areas with window shade pockets, it may not be necessary to design this feature in all areas of the home. For this reason, we consider this option to be partially obtainable in our middle tier price range.
