The Value & The Costs of
Triple Pane Windows & Doors
The Value
Unlike standard windows (with single or double pane glass), triple-pane windows are separately spaced with air or gas between each panel which creates ample insulation, soundproofing, and safety.
Triple pane windows are especially helpful in cold environments and geographic regions because they can retain around 97% of the heating or cooling energy distributed throughout the home. That means home’s in cold climates retain nearly all of the home’s heat during the winter, while remaining cool during warmer months. This drastic reduction in heating loss means significantly less energy is required to condition these homes – reducing environmental impact and energy costs.
The Costs
Triple pane windows are expensive since they are constructed of three separate glass panels and often incorporate gas between each panel (to reduce convection within the window) which can be costly as well.
Additionally, these environmentally friendly windows are both heavy in cost and in their physical weight, requiring the design of the home’s structure to allocate for their weight. Triple pane windows are often considered a luxury product and will increase initial construction costs – not only because of the price of the products themselves, but also because additional framing and installation costs may arise. Despite their expensive price tag, these superior products will generate long-term savings as energy costs will be significantly reduced.
