The Value & The Costs of
Brick and/or Stone Facades
The Value
Brick and stone, when properly installed, are resilient and nearly weatherproof building materials that come in a large variety of colors and tones (or can be painted to the likings of any homeowner.) They are made from natural materials which are resistant to moisture and fire. Both brick and stone exteriors can add lasting value to a home because of durability, enhanced curb appeal, and because they have very minimal maintenance requirements.
The Costs
Brick and stone affect cost in different ways. Because stone has various ‘grade’ levels to it– some stone sources will be more expensive than others – this drives up the cost of the product. Likewise, stone can be heavy and may require additional structural support. Although brick is one of the most expensive building materials, its low-maintenance properties and natural strength may save money in the long term (particularly in areas with harsh climates.)
