Anthony Westenberger AMW Development
Anthony Westenberger had an interest in how things were designed and built from a very young age. He worked full time and completed his undergraduate degree in architecture at night and enrolled in the Master of Real Estate Development program at NYU. After graduating and gaining hands on invaluable experience Anthony figured that it was the right time to take the leap - “I was young, cocky, a little foolish, and had nothing to lose” - it turned out to be the best decision he ever made.
He launched AMW Development in 2010 after 5 years of working for a development firm that had in-house architecture, construction, and property management divisions. The first project he developed was a single family spec house in Hewlett, NY. AMW Development predominantly focuses on properties on Long Island and selectively in the 5 boroughs.
It is very important that everyone on the team is moving towards the same common goal and that is delivering the best product and experience possible for clients/end users.
As a developer, the ability to completely control a project from design through delivery is the biggest benefit of being your own client. There are no hold ups when you are the one calling the shots. However, the downside is that you are also taking on the risks and stress that come with any development project. Ultimately, you will feast or starve based on your performance and decisions. This reality of the business is why Anthony strives to only work with subcontractors that will deliver the highest quality while providing the highest level of service.
Anthony enjoys working with The Up Studio because every single project features incredible architecture and well planned spaces. He appreciates the level of detail and design in the drawings. The quality of the drawings and details makes his life as a builder much easier. Lastly, is the ease of communication, whenever an issue arises the UP team is always willing to think outside the box and find a solution.
One thing that AMW Development prides itself on is staying at the forefront of the industry by using the latest and greatest products and staying on top of new technology. That goes for products like the Zip System and Blueskin to the BimX models they use in collaboration with UP. Their foremen have IPads in the field with the BimX models allowing for easy clarification and visualization for the trades.
